Residual Smoke III
2023, photography installation
After a ritual ended and the crowd had left, the village was left with too many fireworks. The villagers gathered in an empty field and set them off in broad daylight for nearly an hour, with no audience.
In daylight, fireworks failed to illuminate the sky, and their colors vanish. It is the residual smoke, instead, that obscures the sky and becomes the protagonist.
