Detour / 繞行 is an independent, artist-run press explores detour as a way to reclaim and renegotiate public space, publishing works that move along the boundaries of the urban environment, social structures, and everyday gestures. Detour Press treats each book like a tiny piece of architecture and incorporates construction-based materials into its books, linking publishing to practices of building, repair, and improvisation.

Detour Press is an independent, artist-run press founded by Kyla Liang in New York in 2025.

Current artist books include End of Slide and Horizon.

Working closely with XUYU SPACE, Detour Press will launch a new publishing series focused on independent art spaces in China. The issues will be built through conversations with founders about their relationship to the city, the people around them, and the challenges they face.
