End of Slide

2022-2024

I photograph the quiet moment at the bottom of playground slides, where the thrill of sliding down suddenly ends and returns to ordinary ground.

End of Slide marks both a physical and sensory tipping point. As China’s infrastructure expanded, abundant playground slides appeared across newly built neighborhoods. Today, many stand unused. Despite becoming more colorful and diverse, these structures attract fewer children than before, signaling not only the end of the Chinese infrastructure era, but also the end of my childhood.

the thrill fades.
