Kyla Liang (b. 2001, China) is a New York-based artist working across photography, video, and site-specific intervention. Her projects often begin with walking and close observation of overlooked urban sites. She is interested in the temporary life of architecture, unlicensed renovation, and the playful misuse of spatial structures. She reworks index, scale, and function to shift how objects and spaces relate. Moving between the miniature and the monumental, Liang combines a playful, improvised visual language with a precise, almost architectural sense of structure.
Liang is an MFA candidate in Photography at Parsons School of Design. Her solo exhibition was presented at Houshan Art Space in Zhuhai, China. Her work has been exhibited at selected venues including Gallery MC, New York; the American Center for Photographers, Wilson; Right Art Gallery, Shanghai; A4 Art Museum, Chengdu; Another Art Museum, Guangzhou; Big Pie Gallery in Macau; Photoville Festival, Brooklyn; and Accent Sisters, New York. Her publications and artist books have been presented at Printed Matter’s Art Book Fair at MoMA PS1, Brooklyn Fine Art Print Fair at Powerhouse Arts, Available Works Book Fair at WSA, among others.
